I have created several maps on the site and just copied the files onto my eTrex 20. At least I can point you in the right direction to access some pretty good free maps (the generic routable one got us around Tokyo better than I could have imagined.) If you figure out how BaseCamp can be tamed, I'd love to hear how you did it (for me it's a matter of incantations and holding my tongue just right.) when we finished our trip to Japan, but for the life of me I couldn't duplicate the process to put a map on my son-in-law's eTrex20! Apparently there's either quite a learning curve, or BaseCamp seems to have its own agenda. I also managed to replace it with a map of B.C. I have been able to generate maps using this site and was successful in getting a map of Japan onto my husband's eTrex LegendHCx. I use Garmins and a Mac, but somehow I can't get BaseCamp to perform consistently on demand. Hi Flashy, and thanks for bringing this up.
